Project Cloning Options
Previous Topic  Next Topic

The project cloning options appear when you click on the Clone command button on the project screen. The options being affected always refer the copied settings from the project that was highlighted when you started the command.

The options determine which status items are retained on the new project's specifications and which ones are cleared (the items that are marked under "Field Options") when you clone a project.

Generally, if you are creating a new project based on an existing one, you will want to clear most if not all status items so that you can use them again in the cycle of approving and pricing specifications for the new project. The exception would be if particular status items for the previous specs still apply in the new project (for instance, the design and client approvals for a franchise prototype may still be "approved" while the vendor pricing may need to be reverified for the new location.

Note that the "Process milestone status" is cleared automatically if any of the items above it are selected, since not doing so could leave the "Process status" field mismatched to the others.

Any fields that you do not normally use can be cleared or left alone, depending on whether a preset option is easiest. For more about the Clone command, see the main entry under "Project List"
