Special Query Setup

Although you can create almost any query you need with the standard Query tool on each editing screen, there are some more complex queries that can be useful in highlighting data that is incomplete or needs to be checked. On screens where this is applicable you will find a Setup Check or Status Check button that creates this special query for you. This button is found with other special purpose functions beneath a Utilities button.

Since FF&EZ is creating this query through the query tool itself, you can use the results in reports and you can later edit the query to remove (or add) conditions as desired. However, before the query is created the first time, the system gives you the option to select the particular "tests" you want to apply to your project data. This is needed so that you can eliminate tests that would produce "false positives,' that is, results that you know are not applicable to your project. For instance, if you are not using the "Design Approved" and "Client Approved" date fields on the specifications, you would not want to test to see if these are empty (unapproved) because they would all be blank.

Below is a typical special query setup screen (in this case, the Specification screen's Status Check command).

For this particular type of special query, most of the options are not checked. In addition, the option for checking the pricing entries may be different, depending upon whether the current project is a billing type 1 (cost/sell) project or a "Vendor is to bill client" type 2 or 3 in which you would be interested in the purchasing fee instead of the profit.

To include or exclude any of the tests, simply put a check in the checkbox for those you want to include, then click on Okay to continue. You can also start from "zero" by using  the Clear All button to remove all selections. In this example, the tool will look for specs where the vendor has not been chosen, where no vendor quote has been recorded and where no shipping destination has been selected. Checking these could prevent serious problems at the point a quote or purchase order is created.

If you click on Cancel or press the Esc key, FF&EZ's Query tool will respond with a "no items found" message.
